Lost in Tokyo

A beautiful memoir set in a wonderful land

Lost in Tokyo audiobookGarett Wilson is a traveller and rugby player from the UK who, finding himself in Tokyo, has built a career teaching English. From working in conversation schools around Japan, he progressed to the lowly position of an Assistant Language Teacher (ALT) in a Japanese junior high school in a residential district of Tokyo.

This audiobook is the memoir of his first year in the school, trying to find where he belonged as an English bloke in Japan, a country that has a very different approach to teaching and life, even if the young teenage students are painfully familiar.

From learning to live with his Japanese girlfriend, learning too much about Japanese beer and izakaya bars, to trying to remember to wear his indoor shoes at work, and coping with tragedy at the school, this is a gentle story that you will love. I did reading it!

North London, 1976. The longest, hottest summer on record. The water is running out and the kids hate their parents. Which bunch of idiots would think it is a good idea to start a band?
